Syllabus:

History of theatrical performance spaces and buildings. Preparation of theoretical production notation. Possible field component.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- An understanding of the role and function of the stage manager and technical staff within the theatre. An understanding of safe working practice within the theatre. An understanding of the production processes including budgetary considerations and scheduling. Acquired a basic knowledge of the production requirements of various theatrical styles. An understanding of the principles and practice of modern staging methods, and the chronology of theatre structures and designs. An understanding of basic lighting and audio conventions.
