Syllabus:

Advanced methods of analysis - electrochemistry, X-ray diffraction, thermal analysis.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have gained knowledge of dynamic and static electrochemical techniques in the solution of real-life problems, such as corrosion engineering and science, and environmental studies, they will be able to use X-ray powder diffraction patterns to characterise or identify materials and mixtures of materials and evaluate the applicability of thermogravimetric analysis and differential scanning calorimetry to a variety of chemical and analytical problems.
