Syllabus:

The characteristics of a company compared to other business entities, types of companies, internal and external relationships, fundraising, share capital and membership, loan capital, duties of directors and officers, meetings, reporting, members' rights, external administration, comparison of Australian corporate law with selected Asian countries.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have - An understanding of the principles of Australian corporate law, an overview of partnerships, trusts and managed investments and a comparison with relevant Asian corporate law. Recognised those corporate situations, which give rise to the laws and rules, which regulate the conduct of companies and their officers. Practically solved corporate situations through the application of the relevant laws, regulations and principles. Prepared for subjectsand courses of study, (with an emphasis on accounting), that are undertaken concurrent with, or subsequent to, this unit. Prepared for a successful career in the corporate sector.
