Syllabus: | Administrative management is not simply confined to supervision within the clerical work setting. In many organisations, the Administrative Manager (AM) is closely involved with the major functions and activities performed by the office, including - planning, organisation and control of office systems and services, information and communication management, resources, facilities and work environment. Issues concerning office and workplace automation, technology, ergonomics, security and safety. |

Unit Outcomes: | On completion of this unit students have - considered both a management and a systems perspective in relation to the functions and processes of administrative management. Will have developed - the capacity to define and describe the main objectives and current challenges of administrative and office management. The ability to discuss the major factors involved and methods adopted in the planning, organisation, control, and coordination of administrative and office management activities. A knowledge of the ways that recent trends in technology and information management have affected the role of the administrative and office manager. Skills to identify future challenges and directions in relation to administrative and office management. |

Unit Assessment Breakdown: | To achieve a pass grade, students must completed requirements in relation to all of the following four (4) assessment sections listed, and must achieve a mark of 50% or more in the total overall assessment. Class Participation and Exercises 10. Final Examination 60%. Group Project Class Presentation 10%. Mid-program Test 20%. This is by grade/mark assessment. |
