Syllabus:

For students from non-English speaking backgrounds whose proficiency in English language might place them at a disadvantage in Australian undergraduate courses. Practice in speaking, listening, reading and writing skills in a tertiary setting. Academic writing in the form of essays with some exposure to report writing. Study, library research and oral presentation skills. Vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation. Area of study, cross-cultural and current issues.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Competed with English-speaking background students in the tertiary sector. Effectively communicated in Australian society by having the ability to select appropriate communication and interpersonal skills. An understanding of current issues that effect Australia and the surrounding region.
