Syllabus:

Industrial relation theories. Negotiation and bargaining. The role of the parties in the industrial relations framework - management, government and employees. The National Trade Union Congress. The historical context. Collective bargaining. Wage determination. Future challenges.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have - Developed knowledge on industrial relations as practiced in Singapore. Outlined in detail and discussed the role and functioning of components in the Singapore system of industrial relations. Identified and discussed events in history contributing to the development of the current system. Analysed particular current events and situations. Discussed and evaluated proposed changes to the system.
