Syllabus: | Development and expansion of professional and practical skills within a workplace situation. Practice in performing accident and incident investigations or workplace injury and disease and risk assessments of various hazards. A major component is the design and completion of a workplace based project in a field of interest, appropriate to career development. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - apply theoretical knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety to the workplace and complete a project in OHS. Demonstrate core skills and knowledge in OHS by achieving a series of outcomes as defined by the student in consultation with the tutor and the workplace supervisor. Critically assess existing OHS practice and make recommendations for improvement. Work independently in the design, conduct and reporting of an investigation of a problem, topic or area of interest related to occupational health and safety. Prepare a report of an investigation according to scientific conventions and make recommendations based on the finding(s) of the investigation to an acceptable standard for use in the workplace. Write a journal article at a standard suitable for publishing in a journal. |
