Syllabus:

An overview of the financial system including financial institutions and markets, the banking sector and non-bank financial institutions. This includes the equity, corporate debt, government debt and foreign exchange markets and derivative markets and risk management.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On completion of this unit students will have- The ability to provide an overview of the current status and future developments in banking and finance. Explain the interaction of financial institutions instruments and markets. Equity, corporate debt, government debt markets and instruments. Eurocurrency markets, interest rate and exchange rate determination and forecasting. Financial derivatives instruments in futures, swaps and options.
