Syllabus: | Podology - forefoot pathologies including Hallux Valgus, Hallux Limitus, trigger toe, lesser toe deformity. Whole foot deformity, including Pes Planus, Talipes, Pes Cavus. Metarasalgia and allied conditions. Simple treatment and management of the above conditions. Clinical - basic instrument skills. Patient management, interviewing skill development. Record keeping POMR, ADTAR and SOAP approaches. Medical legal implications of patient treatment. Clinical audit and review. |

Unit Outcomes: | On completion of the unit the student will be able to - Recognise and describe the common foot pathogies including the aetiology, pathology and clinical features. Have an understanding of design, manufacture and fit of footwear. Have an understanding ofthe therapeutic procedures involved in the treatment of these common foot pathogies. Have developed an appreciation of the responsibilities of the clinician including ethical behaviour, confidentiality and record keeping. |
