Syllabus: | Examines the legal structures for non-profit associations, duties and liabilities of directors and members, risks and liabilities, the legal environment of sports associations, the Australian Football League, income taxation, charitable fundraising by offering securities, corporations as donors, winding up incorporated associations, unincorporated associations, constitutions of voluntary associations, election systems, meeting procedures, public international law and international sports administration. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have - Critically assessed the benefits and detriments of sports unincorporation, incorporation as an Association or as a company limited by guarantee. Critically assessed the legal duties and liability of office-bearers, risk-management in sport, the legal problems in the Australian Football League. Raised debt and guarantor finance for sport. Obtained corporate sponsorship and donations for sport. Obtained and maintained liquor licensing for sports clubs. Conducted elections of office bearers. Conducted lawful meetings. |
