Syllabus: | Introduces the various sub-disciplines of psychology, the structure and functions of relevant professional associations, the Code of Ethics, and the 'scientist-practitioner' paradigm. Theoretical models which underpin professional practice within the sub-disciplines of psychology are presented and foundational communication skills are introduced. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - List the sub-disciplines of psychology as recognised by the APS. Describe the ethical principles which underpin the practice of psychology. Describe the scientist-practitioner model. Conduct a qualitative interview. Write a report using APA style and APA referencing. Write and present a seminar presentation. Have an understanding of, and demonstrate basic listening skills. |
