Syllabus:

Designed to help students acquire a critical understanding of the value of existing business research and develop research skills. An introduction to the research process, competing research approaches, different research strategies and the basics of research report writing to help students prepare a sound research proposal as an assessed requirement of the course.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - A good understanding of different research paradigms and major theoretical concepts relevant to business research methodology and method. The ability to critically read and fully appreciate research papers. A deep consciousness of the practical aspects and challenges of undertaking and completing a major research project. The ability to translate a management problem into research objectives and questions and to design research to find solutions/answers to the problem. A written research proposal for the students intended research project. Self confidence as well as oral communication and presentation skills.

Unit Assessment Breakdown:

To successfully complete this unit at least 50% must be attained in each assessment component. Contribution to Collective Learning 10%. Reverse-Engineered Research Proposal 10%. Review of Assigned Journal Articles. Presentation of a Student Research Project (idea generation for refining a student research project topic and methodology) 10%. Literature Review on Research Project 20%. Presentation of Research Proposal 20%. Written Research Proposal for the Project 20%. This is by grade/mark assessment.
