Syllabus: | Definitions and protection terminology. Unit, non- unit, primary and backup protections. Types of relays. Instrument Transformers . Overcurrent protection using Inverse time delay relay with Definite Minimum Time (IDMT). Plug Setting Multiplier (PSM) and Time Multiplier (TM) setting and their examples. Differential protection, reverse power protection, earth fault (un-restricted and restricted), directional relays protection and negative phase sequence protection. Distance and directional overcurrent protection systems. Protection of power transformers, generators and busbars. Solid state relays. Fuses and their coordination. |
