Syllabus: | Equips students with a range of organisational research concepts and techniques necessary for research in the competitive business environment. The major focus is on qualitative research and the interpretivist/constructivist paradigm. Students' awarenessand skills are developed through the use of new technologies in research design and data collection, analysis, and presentation. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have recognised and talked about the various debates within social science research that impact on qualitative research. Developed an argument supporting a proposed piece of work including some reference to the quantitative approach. Developed the ability to frame a variety of research questions. Developed, owned and critically appraised other research titles and operational definitions. Developed a research strategy and research design. Recognised challenges within the design especially from the point of view of representation of the social life of others. Enough knowledge about qualitative data collection methods to choose and defend a set. Knowledge of how to record and manage data. Practiced at least one data analysis method and know about others. Used technology to support data analysis. |
