Syllabus:

Soil, water, plant relationships, water quality, water treatment, application of chemicals, hydraulic theory, design criteria, pumps and pumping systems, filtration, fertigation, injectors, controller valves/sensors, distribution systems, installation procedures, irrigation scheduling, operation and maintenance.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Been introduced to the principles of soil and irrigation science and technology as they relate to Western Australian climatic parameters; provide students with a background to the practices of soil, irrigation science and technology relevant to viticulture; to provided students with a knowledge of modern soil and irrigation technology as practised in the field of viticulture relevant to a Mediterranean climate.
