Syllabus:

A study of empirical, interpretive and critical approaches to research. Information on literature reviews and case studies. Current research in the design areas. Students are required to select and identify an approved topic and to describe the methodology to be followed in the research.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Been exposed to a range of research approaches appropriate to the completion of honours/masters projects in Interior Architecture. An ability to consider issues of design and practice as a form of theoretical/scholarly research. The consolidation of skills in self criticism, and a methodology for testing personal ideas and approaches as a culmination of the BA (Interior Architecture)(Honours) degree; or Master of Arts (Interior Architecture). Anability to consider the design of a total research program and its implementation, and to relate this to a choice of a research project. Considered and prepared honours/masters proposals and related literature searches (and design brief where relevant).

Progress and Participation in: Outline Proposal (P/F), Thesis Abstract (P/F),Research Worksheet (P/F), Presentation 1 (P/F), Presentation 2 (P/F), Attendance and Participation (P/F) 30% of overall mark. ID Project Research and Development Proposal; or Masters Candidacy Document 70%. This is by grade/mark assessment.
