Syllabus: | Explores the nature of use and users of information resources, the notion of an information literate person, differentiates between use of resources and the use of the information they contain, between users by individual user characteristics and by intentions of resource providers. Discussions are underpinned by models and theory drawn from psychology and communications. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have- An understanding of how people use information resources and the information they contain. Knowledge of users and user behaviours needed to act as information designers and evaluators in a variety of contexts and for a range of different user groups. The ability to apply knowledge of information behaviour to develop information literacy among users. Developed sufficient knowledge of underlying theories and concepts to underpin their own life-longlearning in this developing area. |
