Syllabus:

Application of the general principles learnt in Information Studies 503 - Information Design, to the retrieval of the resources of libraries and information centres. Provides the opportunity to develop skills in the use of library cataloguing codes and classification schemes and in the construction of specialist subject retrieval systems.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- The ability to choose appropriate standards to apply to various information services. Described and indexed resources using standard schemas and coding systems. Created a thesaurus - classification scheme in a chosen subject. Evaluated the effectiveness of computer-mediated indexing.
