Syllabus:

Focuses on the theoretical and practical application of strategies suited to the early years of schooling. Integrates curriculum studies from the eight learning areas, child development studies, teaching strategies and innovations in education such as multi-age perspectives.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Become familiar with the Western Australian curriculum framework and accompanying documents. Become aware of time allocation and management in a junior primary setting. Engaged in developing teaching and learning which requires reflection and reaction. Planned a program across all learning areas and documented a sequence of learning experiences for a three week period in a junior primary setting. Used the Western Australian curriculum framework to plan appropriate learning experiences. Explored a variety of teaching and learning practices appropriate for junior primary classrooms.
