Syllabus: | Philosophical, theoretical and practical foundations, core components, purposes and processes of occupational therapy. Introductory experiences in occupational therapy practice involving observation and fieldwork tasks including interpersonal communications, interview techniques, written reports. Introduction to occupational therapy terminology, roles of other health professionals and clinical reasoning. |

Unit Outcomes: | Upon completion of this unit, students will be able to - Identify the core components of the philosophy and theory of occupational therapy as demonstrated in practice. Compare and contrast a variety of strategies used by occupational therapists in a range of practice environments. Demonstrate professional behaviour in fieldwork. Identify the occupational therapy process and basic concepts of clinical reasoning in action based on observation, interviews and theory. Compare and contrast the role of occupational therapists with the roles of other health professional. |
