Syllabus:

Focus on educational leadership for school practitioners and provides theoretical knowledge intended to enhance capacity of graduate students to conceptualise and demonstrate leadership for school improvement within the self managing school. Central focus is given to the school as a community and leadership for strategic thinking and planning and the transformation of school culture.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have- Contrasted traditional and contemporary views of leadership. Applied a constructivist approach to conceptualise leadership. Identified the paradoxes incumbent in the exercise of leadership. Assessed the outcomes of leadership. Critically examined the transformative capacity of leadership in school improvement.
