Syllabus:

An analysis and evaluation of current second language acquisition theory. Pedagogic grammar of English and a contrastive analysis between English and aspects of other languages-lexis, syntax and phonology (focus on Asian languages).
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have - A familiarity with current theories of second-language acquisition theory and methods of first and second-language analysis.

Critical analysis of a reading 20%, Development of teaching materials designed to help language students overcome an identified area of difficulty 10%, Examination 25%, Oral presentation of a research proposal 5%, Participation 10%, Preparation of a research paper 30%.
