Syllabus: | Neurological models of practice. Occupational therapy clinical reasoning. Assessment of sensory, motor, perceptual and cognitive, and neurobehavioural components, occupational performance and community integration. Interpretation of assessment findings. Plan therapeutic interventions for people with neurological impairments. Research and evaluate program effectiveness in the Acute, rehabilitation and community neurological practice. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Demonstrate clinical reasoning to select appropriate models of neurological rehabilitation practice to guide occupational therapy intervention for clients with neurological disorders. Demonstrate the ability to justify selection of assessments and program evaluations, with emphasis on sensory motor, perceptual cognitive and neurobehavioral components, occupational performance and community integration. Plan appropriate therapeutic interventions that are based upon evidence of effectiveness and assessment data in acute, rehabilitation and community settings. |
