Syllabus:

Practice models, clinical reasoning in psychiatry and psychosocial practice, in promotion, prevention, treatment and maintenance settings. Assessment, interpretation, planning, intervention with a focus on motivation and behaviours as it effects occupational performance in clients in institutional, family, ethnic and community settings. Evaluation of program outcomes based on evidence.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Identify and apply models of practice in mental health promotion, prevention, treatment and maintenance settings. Demonstrate the ability to select, apply and interpret appropriate occupational therapy assessments with a focus on motivation and behaviour specifically in social relationships, work/study, leisure and self-care. Demonstrate analytical and clinical reasoning skills in the planning, management and application of occupational therapy services for clients in institutions, family, community or ethnic settings. Evaluate program outcomes using evidence based practice.
