Syllabus: | Introduction to occupational/vocational rehabilitation theories, process and services for individuals with psychological, psycho-social, intellectual and physical disabilities of an acute or chronic nature. Functional capacity evaluation - commercial andnon-commercial, work assessment tests/methods and job analysis. Legislation appropriate to the area, knowledge of organisations and their services. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Determine the most appropriate assessments, interventions and evaluations in response to changes in human systems and work environment resulting from disease, injury, and abnormal development or of a psychological nature and which affects vocational performance. Demonstrate analytical and clinical reasoning skills through appropriate planning, intervention and management for all stages of vocational rehabilitation. Compare and contrast vocational rehabilitation theories and processes and demonstrate skills in preparing a program plan, including selection of assessments, interventions and evaluations with regard to risk identification and management at all stages. Evaluate a range of occupational rehabilitation services such as sheltered employment and other community services for supporting individuals with special needs related to issues such as mental health problems, alcohol and other drug issues, and long-term unemployment. Provide clear, confidential and accurate documentation to fulfil legislative requirements. |
