Syllabus:

Risk management techniques and principles, ergonomic principles and practical applications, legislation, Codes of Practice and Australian Standards, training program planning, content development and evaluation. Industry sources and services and commonhealth hazards.
 

Unit Outcomes:

Upon completion of this unit students will be able to identify and compare health hazard trends including injuries resulting from manual handling, occupational stress and cumulative trauma from a variety of industries. Apply relevant legislation and codes of practice to develop occupational safety and health programmes in industry. Select and apply relevant tools and initiatives to identify hazards and assess risks in the workplace. Develop, implement and evaluate the effectiveness of suitable risk control strategies, including ergonomic applications, and training and supervision programmes, to eliminate or reduce hazards in the workplace.
