Syllabus:

Transportation as part of the logistics process. Transport economic theory. Carriers - service, selection, pricing, freight and negotiation rates, liabilities, regulation and planning. Modes of transportation and the Government's role. Intermodel transportation and systems - national and international. Transportation and Australia's economy. Trends in transportation technology. The goal of seamless transportation.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Understood the role of transportation in the logistics process. Understood the modes of transportation and the government's role. Described the intermodel transportation and systems. Explained the concept of seamless transportation.
