Syllabus: | Introduction to the concept of logistics management. Logistics as the management of flow of goods and services in profit and non-profit organisations. Overview of some typical logistics activities-transportation, materials management, inventory management, distribution, customer service, information systems and order processing. Case studies in logistics management for some organisations in the Pacific Rim. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have understood - The role of logistics in organisations. Individual components of logistics and their interrelationships within individual companies. The role of integrated logistics. The variety of analytical tools and techniques useful in solving logistics problems. The professional opportunities in the field of logistics management. |
