Syllabus: | Mechanical drives and power transmission. Power train components - belts, gears, shafts, clutches and brakes. Air compressors and air distribution. Power hydraulics. Diesel engines and emission controls. Electric power distribution in mines - systems andcomponents. Grounding. Certification of equipment for mining use. Mine plant - layout and components. Maintenance of mining equipment and facilities. Mining automation. |

Unit Outcomes: | On completion of this unit students will have - Developed a good understanding of ethics and duty of the mechanical and electrical gear used in mining and their Maintenance issues. |
