Syllabus: | Introduction to rehabilitation and services, fitness conditioning and work hardening, disease classification, rehabilitation accreditation and providers, medico-legal and cultural issues, psychosocial issues, workers compensation legislation. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Identify the major issues involved in the role of work; changes in the workplace and impacts on individuals and society. Recognise and discuss the consequences for the individual worker of occupational injury, disease and ill health. State the general requirements of the workers' compensation legislation and the rehabilitation process. Describe the function of health and rehabilitation practitioners, the services and resources which are available for individuals and organisations. Analyse and develop prevention and rehabilitation policies and strategies for industry, organisations and their work environment. Describe the needs and processes involved in occupational rehabilitation. Describe the professional resources to be employed. Understand the principles and practices of occupational case management. |
