Syllabus: | A broad study of mining technology and methods, both surface and underground. Mining terminology. Selection of representative mining methods, including relative economics. Typical mining facilities and equipment. Mine safety and environment management. Field trips to local mining operations. |

Unit Outcomes: | On completion of this unit students will have - A thorough understanding of the contribution of mining to the national economy, classification of mining methods, mining equipment, technological processess of mining, occupational health and safety issues and the impact of mining on the environment. |
