Syllabus: | Soil capability and productivity for selected agricultural soil landscape units; farm planning and sustainable land use. Causes and solutions to various forms of land degradation such as salinity, wind and water erosion, acidity and soil structural change as to farming systems. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have- Identified forms of land degradation and selected appropriate techniques to ameliorate or prevent problems developing. Recognised the productivity and land capability for selected agricultural soil landscape units. Applied extension techniques to prepare a poster (based on current research) for an issue related to land conservation. Prepared a revegetation plan for a given area of a farm, supported by sound reasons for decisions. Attended seminarsand field trips and present a seminar on a topic relevant to this unit. |
