Syllabus:

Basic physiotherapy competencies including - passive movement, massage, goniometry, muscle testing, patient handling and use of walking aids. Development of an understanding of the control of movement, motor learning principles and therapeutic interventions to facilitate normal movement and principles of biomechanics also contribute to further appreciation of normal and abnormal movement.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Applied recent information in the area of movement science including the fields of motor learning and motor control to clinical practice. Developed their understanding of the analysis of functional movement tasks and used this knowledge in the development of manual handling skills to assist a patient to perform functional movements.
