Syllabus:

Development of the foundation competencies in understanding human development and cardiopulmonary and exercise physiology. Topics on human development include physical, cognitive and social development in children, adolescence, adulthood, ageing, dying. Topics on physiology include pathophysiology and clinical features of pulmonary and cardiovascular diseases, muscle strength and endurance measurement, exercise program development and evaluation.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have - Described human physical and psychosocial development across the lifespan, providing information about the metabolic pathways and energy systems of the human body. Demonstrated an understanding of the physiology and neurophysiology of the muscular system, including the identifying factors influencing muscle performance and strength training. Described the pathophysiology of the cardiopulmonary system and the clinical manifestations of pulmonary and cardiac disease.
