Syllabus:

Provides an introduction to the Australian Legal System as it applies to the Internet, E-Commerce and areas of Information Technology generally. In particular covering issues of ethics and privacy, online consumer contracts, misconduct on the Internet, domain names and other intellectual property, taxation and jurisdiction problems in this environment and cybercrime.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have- Overviewed the operation of the Australian Legal System on E-Commerce and Business conducted though the Internet or involving Information Technology. Knowledge of a broad outline of Australian Business Law relevant to E-Commerce. Examined the impact of new technology on the legal system. Appreciated some of the rules and principles applying to the Internet.
