Syllabus: | 70 days of supervised field practice, undertaken four days per week over a semester period, in accordance with the syllablus for SW 463. In addittion, students participate in Honours program seminar and individual tuition in research one day per week. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Understood the purpose and role of the placement organisation and its relationship to the broader social, economic and political context and to critically analyse the organisation's role. Identified the needs for, purpose, scope and limits of social work involvement within the organisational context and utilised this understanding to provide social work service. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in order to meet the client's interest. Analysed and assessed social needs, select appropriate intervention strategies from a range of options and plan for and put these into operation. This includes the ability to practice different forms of social work intervention: casework, family work, group work, community work, social policy practice and research. Utilised a wide range of social work skills including supporting, enabling, networking, counselling, brokering, mediating, advocating, educating, program development, policy critique and policy development. Demonstrated clear, fluent and effective interpersonal communication and written communication. |
