Syllabus: | Based on an active learning approach, this practice-oriented unit is an opportunity to integrate material covered in the course in an experiential manner. It is designed to consolidate and extend theories, communication skills and professional competencies in a variety of social work practice contexts. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Demonstrated courage to plan and implement appropriate and effective social work interventions at individual, family, group or community levels. Demonstrated the ability to work flexibly across the spectrum of social work, including an understanding of the processes entailed in working with individuals, families, groups and communities. Demonstrated an understanding of relevant theoretical knowledge and the competence to deploy this critically inspecific and general areas of social work practice. Demonstrated a commitment to working within a frame of reference that takes into account cultural values and issues of gender, race, class and the environment. An awareness of personal values and ethicsand their play in each social worker's practice. An awareness of ethical principles as codified in the AASW Code of Ethics, and the ability to monitor and evaluate practice through these principles. Demonstrated a commitment to social work practice that enhances client's self-determination and self-empowerment. |
