Syllabus: | Blasting terminology, blasting theory, rock properties and their influence on fragmentation, stability and environmental impact. Designing blast patterns including explosive distribution, priming, initiation sequences, delay selection and fragmentation modelling. Blast performance assessment and monitoring. Blast damage and rock stability, environmental impact. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Understood the fundamentals of blasting physics. Understood the elements of blast design. Understood the impacts of blasting. Applied the knowledge to efficient blasting outcomes. |
