Syllabus:

Public health strategies for the control of infectious diseases, outbreak investigation and management, immunisation, public health legislation. Policy development for infectious disease control programs. Application of control principles to specific infectious diseases.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will be able to - Discuss historical control measures and assess their effectiveness. Describe the control of disease in terms of primary, secondary, or tertiary prevention, and in terms of reducing the components of the epidemic model. Apply the principles of control to specific diseases. Understand the impediments to the success of preventive programs. Discuss with understanding the issues to be considered for the development of infectious disease control programs. Understand the processes of global disease control.
