Syllabus:

The concept of graphical information systems. Data structures for thematic maps. Data input, verification, storage and output. Digital elevation models. Methods of data analysis and spatial modelling. Data quality, errors and natural variation. Expert systems for geographical information systems. Mining applications of GIS.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit, students will have- Acquired a sound understanding of GIS applications in mining. Understood all aspects of GIS data usage.
