1762 (v.4) Animal Biology 102 or any previous version

Syllabus:

Introduction to selected aspects of animal physiology. Physiology of animal movement, including, integrative function of nervous system, structure and function of muscle tissue, stimulation and control of muscular activity, integration of sensory input and hormonal influences on animal activity.
 

Unit Outcomes:

On successful completion of this unit students will have gained knowledge of animal body functions, such as nervous and cardiovascular systems, haematology and immunology, digestion, absorption and many of the drugs, toxins and poisons that affect these.The student will become familiar with principles of ethnopharmacology, bioprospecting, extraction procedures, chemical identification and bioassays and will have received basic training in physiological, pharmacological and toxicological instrumentation.
