Syllabus:	Gait analysis - analysis of pathological gait and computerised gait analysis, EMED, EMG analysis. Orthopaedics - Podiatric Orthopaedics - Specialist cast modifications. Problem solving in patient management. Manufacture of advanced orthoses techniques. Troubleshooting. Case studies of orthoses cases. User of simple off the shelf orthoses. Orthopaedic Surgery - Introduction to orthopaedics, general principles of orthopaedics. Infection. Disorders of bone and joints. Hip, Knee, Ankle and Foot. Tumours affecting the foot and leg.
Unit Outcomes:	On successful completion of this unit students will have - A comprehensive understanding of compensation occurring in pathological foot states. An ability to recognise and treat a wide range of mechanical foot pathologies. An ability to integrate the useof computerised and photographic techniques into podiatric diagnosis. A thorough understanding of a wide range of mechanical therapies related to joint pathologies. An ability to integrate mechanical therapy into total patient management. Acquired a knowledge of the basic principles of orthopaedics and developed an understanding of the management of orthopaedic problems as they relate to the lower extremity.
