Syllabus:Project of a detailed experimental or developmental study of a selected process, device or structure. Students will have selected a topic for a project, have undertaken some preliminary work and reported on progress to supervisor. The project will be completed in CPE 462 where activity includes a final technical report and a formal oral presentation consisting of an account of the work involved, together with results and conclusions of the analysis, laboratory work and design as appropriate.

Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students have learnt to apply the knowledge they have gained in the first three years of the course to effectively deal with a particular project. They will sharpen the analytical, design, experimental and interactive skills needed to solve civil engineering problems and develop written and oral communication skills through presentation of the results of their project.
Text and references listed above are for your information only and current as of September 30, 2003. Please check with the unit coordinator for up-to-date information.
Unit References: Some useful references on writing technical reports will be issued. Students should collect technical literature appropriate to their projects from the library and other sources.
Unit Texts: No prescribed text.
