Syllabus: | Placement is offered in a health information management service of a hospital to further develop, through directed practice, the knowledge and skills acquired during the first two years of the course. Computer applications are used to abstract information and gain experience in disease classification. Evaluation and analysis of departmental health information management systems, policies and procedure. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit students will have - Displayed familiarity with the policies and procedures of a health information service. Explained the organisation and flow of information from the creation of information to archiving. Demonstrated a knowledge of three computerised health information systems in use within a hospital setting. Discussed information management aspects associated with patient services. |
