Syllabus: | Develop a stronger graphic communication skills base by the utilisation of photographic and digital image generation. The Photographic component focuses on broadening core abilities in art direction and the production of photographic images. Students will investigate and produce a series of environmental portraits. A variety of techniques and procedures demonstrated towards the acquisition of photographic images in both location and studio environments. Using primarily Adobe Photoshop, Digital rendering focuses on a film poster production using a variety of different image blending and construction methods to achieve a final outcome. Emphasis will be placed on content, composition, colour and techniques. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit (Photographic component) students will have - Understood the application of Photography in Design and Communication systems. Developed analytical skills in photographic image construction. Developed Location Photography skills. Developed Studio Photographic acquisition and Lighting skills. Developed a range of technical photographic portrait acquisition skills. On successful completion of this unit (Digital Rendering Component) students will have - Developed an alternative techniques to scanning and image blending within a digital environment. Developed an advanced understanding of colour usage in Adobe Photoshop. Developed an understanding of tool selections and masking techniques using Adobe Photoshop. Developedtechniques for directing audience navigation within a given visual medium. Developed and refined mock-up visuals, ready for client approval in a design industry environment. |
