Syllabus: | In design there are set objectives in achieving success in graphic outcomes. A majority will be in print but some outcomes of impact may require further analysis and research for their success. The production component is to work hand in hand with the conceptual work in this unit as designs are developed. At briefing stage objectives need to be planned that are specific to project needs. Graphic software applications will need to be evaluated to assist in the overall design outcomes. Communication and presentation skills will be addressed in studio-based exercises, workshops and projects. Contribution to session discussions is also encouraged. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will be able to- Continue a framework of enquiry that generates ideas and solutions. Develop the understanding of visual language and its application from conception through to production. Continue to develop analytical, visual and verbal communication skills. Take ideas to computer generated artwork for production purposes. Learn how to plan a design job from concepts to computer ready artwork. |

Unit Assessment Breakdown: | Deadline/Critique sessions at the end of each session (3) 30%. Portfolio submission including 3 re-worked projects 60%. Short Exam/paper 10%. This unit is broken down into two components - design and production. Each carries a weighting of 50%. A pass inboth components must be achieved in order to pass the unit. This is a grade/mark assessment. |
