Syllabus: | Examination of stress and strain in rock, processes and mechanisms of rock failure, deformational and non-deformational structures, fabric elements and processes, recognition, classification and interpretation of major geological structures, interpretation of geological maps, geometrical analysis of geological structures using structural contours, and orthographic and stereographic projection techniques. |

Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have the ability to interpret geological maps and structures, and an understanding of how rocks deform in nature. |
