Syllabus:	Communication skills including practical aspects of patient care and counselling in pharmaceutical practice. Patient medication records, legal aspects of patient medication records. Competencies for entry level pharmacists. Legislation applicable to drugs and medicines - Poisons Act and Regulations, National Health Act and Regulations. Schedule of Benefits. Dispensing of extemporaneous formulations, dispensing prescriptions, prescription review, legality, restrictions, Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS) and private prescriptions. The health care system in Australia.
Unit Outcomes:	On successful completion of this unit students will have demonstrated competence in dispensing and other professional duties involved in the provision of medicines to the community. Integrated the legal and ethical requirements of the profession with theprovision of professional services. Demonstrated the ability to communicate effectively with patients. Developed an understanding of the health care system in Australia.
