| Syllabus: | Check surveys and their accuracy. Complex orientation surveys for underground mines. Tunnelling surveys and setting out the tunnelling equipment. Specialised equipment - laser pointers and sensors. Slope deformation and stability monitoring. Subsidence monitoring and prediction. Borehole surveys. Geodetic surveys. High accuracy GPS surveys - introduction to space geodesy. |

| Unit Outcomes: | On successful completion of this unit, students will have- A comprehensive understanding of the surveying requirements for high profile tunnelling. Acquired an understanding of monitoring for movement in open pit and underground mining. |
