Syllabus:Metallurgical balances, size analysis, screening, classification, crushing and grinding. Separation processes - gravity separation, dense medium separation, washability curves, magnetic separation, electrostatic separation and ore sorting. Solid - liquidseparations - flocculation, thickening, centrifuges, filtration and thermal drying.
 
Unit Outcomes: On successful completion of this unit, students will have- An appreciation for the scope of mineral processing operations . A theoretical background for some separation processes.
